The month of February sees the wildebeest migrating to Tanzania’s Serengeti plains and provides an incredible spectacle not seen anywhere else in the world.  With only 3-4 photographers per vehicle, you will be encouraged to try different techniques to capture the various dramas that unfold in front of your eyes.           Non-photographic travel companions are more than welcome.

February 1, 2: Flight to Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Fly to Kilimanjaro airport, Tanzania (arriving on Feb. 2).  Upon arrival, Richard and Ryan will welcome and drive you to the charming Kigongoni Lodge.

February 3, 4: Tarangire National Park

After breakfast by the pool, and lunch at the Arusha Coffee Lodge, journey to the hot and arid Tarangire National Park – one of the best places to photograph herds of dusty elephant and enormous baobab trees.  Spend two full days exploring this fantastic region, with evenings spent downloading photos and enjoying sundowners at the eco-award winning Tarangire River Camp.

February 5, 6: Ngorongoro Crater

After a morning game drive in the conservancy, stop at Naitoli Primary School to donate school supplies to appreciative children before traversing the Great Rift Valley to the cool and lush highlands of the world famous Ngorongoro Crater.  Very early the next morning, photograph the sun rising over the Crater before descending 2,000 feet into this wildlife-filled natural wonder.  Your nights will be spent in the midst of a beautiful coffee plantation at the Ngorongoro Farmhouse.

February 7, 8: The Serengeti National Park - Ndutu

Drive through the extraordinary herds of migrating wildebeest and zebra on your way to the Ndutu region of the Serengeti, stopping at the historic Oldupai Gorge and a Maasai cultural village (optional) along the way.  During morning and afternoon game drives, photograph the full range of African wildlife including lion, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, and rhino.  Enjoy two nights at the award-winning Ndutu Safari Lodge situated in the heart of the annual wildebeest and zebra migration.

February 9: Lake Masek

Drive around the lake photographing unique waterfowl and arrive at the exclusive Lake Masek Tented Camp – a camp surrounded with Big 5 game all year round.  Using solar power energy, a rain harvesting system, and biodegradable products, our environmental impact is kept to an absolute minimum.

February 10, 11: Kilimanjaro departure flight:

After one last game drive, fly back to your day room in Kilimanjaro for a chance to swim, shower, and pack your luggage.  Enjoy a final dinner before transferring to the airport for your international flight home (arriving on Feb. 11), with more wildlife photos than you ever imagined!
